About
As part of the previous study, Knowledge Translation of Evidence-Based Recommendations for the Continence Care of Stroke Survivors in Acute and Rehabilitation Settings, our research team conducted a comprehensive review of the literature to obtain and evaluate published and unpublished information regarding urinary continence outcomes and interventions for stroke survivors. This information was evaluated and synthesized into the recommendations outlined in the resulting clinical practice guidelines, Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Urinary Continence Management of Stroke Survivors in Acute and Rehabilitation Settings.
This online self-directed learning portal (www.strokecontinencecare.ca) was created to support the implementation of these clinical practice guidelines. It contains interactive learning modules integrating evidence-based practice recommendations, case scenarios and learning assessments. Links to supporting assessment tools and protocols, best practice guidelines, education materials, and articles are included to allow participants to extend their learning. It uses a Wordpress Blogging Platform (www.wordpress.com) allowing participants to comment on the modules and seek researcher feedback on urinary continence care. This platform was chosen because its relative low cost might be of particular interest to health settings interested in developing online self-directed learning tools, while limiting learning expenditures.
